WASHINGTON (AP) — The State Department is striking back at growing bipartisan critique of Rex Tillerson’s leadership plus accusations he is presiding over a devastating brain drain of the nation’s diplomatic corps.

In a letter to the United states senate Foreign Relations Committee’s Republican leader, the department said Tillerson’s reorganization plans aren’t crippling it info have claimed. Top ranks not necessarily being intentionally gutted through attrition, mass retirements and buyouts, this said, and a planned 8 % reduction of its nearly 75, 1000 employees was mandated by the Workplace of Management and Budget.

Within the letter sent to Sen. Bob Corker late Thursday, the department mentioned there are only 108 fewer international service officers now than there was in 2016 and that is still two, 000 more than there were in 08.
